Large boat or can it be lanched into backwater areas without a ramp?
If it's a large boat, I fish from a kayak and abandon Lake Wheeler until the fall. I spend to much time trying to not get run over! I do fish Indian Creek and areas of Limestone Bay with some success but mostly stick to shallow back waters until later in the year. There are some great anglers on here that can help you though!

Are you planning to put out a light? You might want to try Limestone Bay. I've caught some nice stringers of Crappie in there and they move back and forth from deeper water to shallow feeding on the bait fish. I usually do well at daylight, I'm guessing they're moving up shallow at night and I'm catching them on the tail end before they move back deep for the day.
Good Luck!!

Hey Jdunn, I'm also from Priceville and also trying to figure out some how to catch some crappy... i mean crappie. You ever try in the Y behind the railroad tracks? I know people do real well in there earlier in the year but I haven't been in there much later.
Predator130, I also have tried the y in early spring, but have not tried it out in warmer weather, I know behind the boat harbor hold a lot in spring. Might have to try the channel drop off there at night.
I'm from Priceville as well...
Welcome to the board....Your uncle isn't 100% wrong ...or right. They are there and they will bite - but finding them is the key. With the larger areas - you could be looking all summer. The smaller areas that are somewhat closed off (so the fish can't swim out to the main river) seem to be the best bet....but few of those have a decent place to launch a boat...that's why you're seeing so much discussion about kayaks. We're trying to hit areas where the fish can't escape to deep water & there's not too much fishing pressure. Best of luck to you and keep us posted.
