    Default Weiss 2/09/2012

Fished Weiss on Thursday, 2/9/2012. Got on the water around 9:00am and fished till around 4:00pm. Water temp was 52 - 57 deg. Caught 31 total, and had 10 or 12 keeper sized fish. The biggest weighed 2.0 lbs on hand scales (see pictures below). All fish were caught pulling jigs under floats (1/16 oz and 1/32oz) in 5 - 8 ft of water along an old creek channel. Caught a few on Acid Rain, but Black/Chartruse was defintely the hot color for me today. All fish were released to fight another day....

Way to go! CPR is great, one sure way to contribute to the preservation of our decreasing Crappie in the Coosa River chains of lakes. BB

Congratulations on a great day out. Good to see the trolling bite even with the corks is starting to turn on. Wonder what this cold front will do to them?

I'd say this cool weather will knock em back for a day or two, but a few warm stable days should have em biting good again. I just hope this wind doesnt blow em all out on the bank! When the water temps are this low, I always like to get out on the 3'rd or 4'th day of stable sunny weather. In past years, I've caught good fish in December, January, and Febuary trolling with floats, but trolling at a slow speed ( approximately .8 mph), and on sunny days when the weather had been stable for atleast 3 or 4 days. Sun shining on the water really seems to help this time of year. When I was out there last week, the sun was in and out all day. When the sun was behind the clouds, couldnt hardly buy a bite, but when the sun came out and the wind was still, they really turned on. At times, I had fish on multiple rods at the same time.
