First off, again, I want to say I’ve been working mandatory 12 hour shifts at the sheriff’s department with no off days until today, so I hope nobody attacks me for going out to play -- like they have been to some people on other boards. Good therapy --- and I did well out at Guntersville on the lower end. First fish was a big cat I caught on ultralight on 4 lb Fireline. Ten minutes into the 15 minute fight, I still wasn’t sure it wasn’t a giant spot, so I had to convince myself not to freak out if that was what I saw on that first glance – or if it made a surprise jump - because as you know a big spot will run like the dickens, too. Pretty much knew it wasn’t a drum by the way it hit. I did catch quite a few crappie, like the cat on 1/16 ounce jigs, including this beautiful fish, in 3-6 foot of water around structure and in ditches. They seem to bite better in the morning for me. Around noon., I tried for bass and caught this whopper on a medium action spinning rod & 8 lb. Fireline. It’s off the charts! Also caught another just a little smaller.
