First off, again, I want to say I’ve been working mandatory 12 hour shifts at the sheriff’s department with no off days until today, so I hope nobody attacks me for going out to play -- like they have been to some people on other boards. Good therapy --- and I did well out at Guntersville on the lower end. First fish was a big cat I caught on ultralight on 4 lb Fireline. Ten minutes into the 15 minute fight, I still wasn’t sure it wasn’t a giant spot, so I had to convince myself not to freak out if that was what I saw on that first glance – or if it made a surprise jump - because as you know a big spot will run like the dickens, too. Pretty much knew it wasn’t a drum by the way it hit. I did catch quite a few crappie, like the cat on 1/16 ounce jigs, including this beautiful fish, in 3-6 foot of water around structure and in ditches. They seem to bite better in the morning for me. Around noon., I tried for bass and caught this whopper on a medium action spinning rod & 8 lb. Fireline. It’s off the charts! Also caught another just a little smaller.

nice catch
Congrats on a nice catch. Sounds like a lot of fun with big fish on light tackle.
Nice fish
I don't claim to be the best fishermen but my 2 brothers think I am.
The river is a great place to clear your mind, and charge you batteries,, thanks for all the work with the sheriff dept.
And if you can get a jerk on your line,,,,, well,,, thats a bonus!!!

Good job, those are some real nice fish. Every now and then you need a break to recharge no better place than on the water!
You earned that right to have a day off and to spend it fishing. Glad you enjoyed yourself and had some fun. I know that your job has been very demanding of late. Thank you for what you do and do not begrudge yourslef a little "me" time every now and then.
