What are crappies habits after this much rainfall this time of the year for the following week??? especially the following day??? thinking about going as soon as it all passes but figured this kind of rise could either kill my trip or make it... please post if you know their habits this time of the year right after a flood...

if muddy it will be bad for me until it clears quite a bit.
based on my experiences they gey lockjaw, water has to be fairly clear for them to hit good-but thats only my opionion.
Wishing ya`ll hard strikes and heavy stringers and slay those slabs
Pretty much the same for me. Since they hit minnows and small jigs, you have to put it really close to them because the water is so dirty. With the weeds down to filter the water, this is already the dirtiest time of the year, clarity-wise. Then, after it rains, the front has come through, so you have the whole barometer/bladder thing that happens to them, aka, the "bluebird day." That can get them suspending in negative feed mode all by itself. It's usually cooler after a front this time of year and it doesn't take much to knock them off their game temperature-wise. There are plus sides, but the negs highly outweigh them. A positive is they are pulling a lot, and I mean a lot of water at Guntersville. Another plus is that murky water keeps the shallows warmer. But those negatives I mentioned really put a damper on fishing after a heavy rain like we've just experienced.

I appreciate the info guys....I couldn't stand it and had to go give it a try today...carried a good friend to smith (he hardly ever gets the chance to fish) and thought we would give it a shot. It felt like we were fishing the Atlantic ocean with the wind and waves we faced in my 18ft Aluminum boat.We were still able to get get a very small mess (7 nice keepers) and get him some good supper on the table in just a few hours.. But I think I have learned my lesson on getting to anxious and not trusting my gut... It was very frustrating trying to fish in that cold wind... so next time I look out my back screened in porch and see the furniture blowing around I think I will stay at the house.lol...
