For me, it has been natural cedar limbs in small settings away from larger structure. But, I would be willing to do some experimentation in the south if needed.

Do you guys prefer natural or artificial habitat when you have the choice? We are keeping track of which cover big slabs prefer. So far, it looks like a combination of both, works the best in holding mature fish. We have come out with a line of products made from reclaimed pvc for habitat. Each unit is self weighted and sinks standing vertical. They come with "limbs" up to 3" wide for max. shade and surface area. Algae grows fast on the textured finish. We have shipped tons of these products throughout the south, mostly to private lake and pond owners. Take a look and give me your input, good and bad. Our goal is to help the fish and the environment. Catching them is up to you!

It's a little hard to come by here in Missouri! I actually thought about taking a trailer down there to get me a load!
TTwoods,
Great to hear your porkies are doing you well. We all know fish use it all. Our company is all about adding any/all habitat for fish.(period) We have always supported use of all other kinds of products available to buy and homemade, natural, as well as our own fishiding artificial fish habitat products. They all have their place. Of coarse all these ideas are easy to imitate. Yes we have a patent. If you have the time build some and sink some on your own, thats a good thing. Save the money. We want to help people understand how our nations waterways are losing habitat at a scary rate. The business side of things don't matter as much as helping people understand how important habitat is for so many more reasons other than than a hot fishing spot. It doesn't matter what kind of structure as much as you help our fisheries in general improve. It is not just about catching fish over a designated spot. Grow some for grandkids and future generations. Abundandt cover for fry = balanced fishery=maximum size fish.

Here some big boo that would make good habitat, I didn't think I could sneak it back on plane though. (if the shirt didn't give away the location) Found it a few miles north of Honolulu.
