    Default Forrest Ingram (Cullman) report

I kept 12 this afternoon, but caught way more. Long lining with 1/16 oz. head and with a Bobby Garland chartreuse with red flake jig. Average size 12 inches. Water temp 69. I will post pics.

Hey Forrest sounds like you had a great day, I just started getting into Crappies this year and I love to long line. With out giving up your favorite place where were you and where else do you go? Also does your method change coming into the summer?

WalleyeBob I'm still a newbie when it comes to crappie fishing. I just started last year, but I've learned a lot on this website. Like most of the methods I tried I picked up the general concept by checking out what the more experienced crappie fisherman do. There are a few threads on here about how to do it you will just have the surf around until you find them. What worked for me Friday was throwing the jig (1/16 oz.) a good cast behind the boat about 25 yards. I only used two rods. I would put the trolling motor on one and watch the depth finder. If no hits I would put the trolling motor on two. I tried different heads 1/8 oz and 1/32, but most hits were off the 1/16 oz. I've learned that what worked today may not tomorrow so you just have to keep trying and learning. I didn't fish for crappie last summer so I don't have any experience trying to catch them, but you may try shooting docks. I'm just now learning how to do that and it is a lot of fun. Hope this helps

Great come back bebo33 that is about the way I have been doing it also. I got the method down I use to fish for Walleye in Denver the same way. I just need to get on to locating the Crappie and where to fish for them - so much water here it is hard to make your mind as to where to go!

bebo, funny you mentioned that color. I have caught them on all my other color of BG's but not that one. Ifinally used the last ones up making some home made molds. Glad you had a good report. I may get to go when we finish our finals. Is that the report from when you sent me the PM

Yes! That was Friday after school and work. I had a few hours and didn't have a lot of time. I got on the water by 5 and the last hour was the best. I caught some really good fish, but I also caught some really small ones two. About three or four 7, 8 inch fish for every keeper.

Bebo, I think you will find that consistantly your 1/16 will work the best overall. You do need to put some 1/24 in your arsenal as well if you have not already done so. They seem to work pretty good at times as well. Glad you caught some good fish

I like a 1/32 as well for early spring when the Crappie are in 4-5' of water, you can let out more line without hitting bottom.
