Hey guys! I am new to the forum. Actually I am new to the crave of catching big ol slabs! I usually dont pick up a pole until the end of May after chasing turkeys all across the country but here lately i have been talking to a few folks all talking about crappie fishing and i have the itch. In the morning i am either heading to Harris Brake, Lk Conway, or an old ox bowl lake i have a cabin on around Des Arc. Which direction would you guys think would give the rookie the best chance at catching a few and with those places that i mentioned there is plenty of cover what and how should i throw.

I would go to Gold Creek in Lake Conway, and see Dan at Gold Creek Landing. He can put you on the fish and he can also supply the bait for you. You won't go wrong. They were catching them out of there yesterday. I will be there in the morning.

Shut up and Fish!!! :D
When I lived in Little Rock back in the old days, fishing partner from Conway and I would fish Lake Overcup. That was when the crappie average 12 inches or more, and one could catch 30 very easy there. Understand now that isn't the case at Overcup.
Welcome to the board from VA. Good luck to you tomorrow.
