Congrats, glad someone is getting on some fish. Hopefully I can find some this weekend, my freezer here at school is empty.

I started to title this post "we have been fishing at the wrong lake" like my fishing buddy pointed out but "Crescent Lake" in the title line will be easier for folks to find.
We caught 67 and kept 17... all over 12" and the largest two were pushing 2 pounds.
The fish were stockier and had more "heft" per inch than the fish we have been getting at Lochloosa.
We did our standard tactic of pushing jigs.
The shot below was with a fish measuring just over 12 inches. Nice coloration on all the fish today, unlike Lochloosa where the muddy water has them all a pretty bland silver.

Yep, looks real nice ! !

Looks like you had a good day on the water Tom.
I can't wait till this cold front pushes thru. While they may be a little harder to find, I bet they will be stacked up tight.
Going down this weekend to check on everything, and to cover up my Orange Trees. If I do get out I'll give a report.
Thanks for posting the GPS numbers on that log in Dead Lake.

Nice, Tom! I am heading back there Saturday morning if my boat gets fixed. The water pump is out. Was stupid, and ran it in the mud to get it on the lake from hideaway cove last Saturday.
Wheres the best place to launch and buy bait at Crescent? Its a toss up b/t there and Talquin for me on Sat.

What size boat? We are limited to launching at the Dead Lake ramp because of the size of my fishing partner's boat.
If you are fishing out of something shorter than 22 feet being pulled by a crew-cab F-350, the downtown ramp in Crescent City will work.
There is also a small, very poor, ramp at a fish camp on the north end of the lake. I forgot the name of the place but maybe a Crescent Lake regular can ring in on that one. I only saw it twice a LONG time ago when another friend was launching a small tin boat there.

I got a 15ft War Eagle but I have a Go devil motor so water level is a non issue

To all,
I live right down the road from dead lake and have been fishing and putting my boats in there for 30 years. The ramp at dead lake is not what is being posted. The ramp used to be a little tough rascal to deal with. But now, the county has taken over the fish camp and has provided a brand new ramp. The ramp can handle 3 abreast ( if you can drive properly) easily. I have seen boats in excess of 25' being put in with no problem. If you have not been to the camp in the last few months, you don't know the new ramp is there. I put my 18' skeeter in all the time with no problem. The ramp is great now. I have been waiting for a new ramp here for many years and now it's actually done. The bait shop at the ramp opens at 6:30 and closes at 2:30. Right now they only carry minnows and crickets. ( no shiners yet). They do not sell soda, crackers, or any tackle. They are looking for someone to lease the bait shop. That way the new owners can stock the place. The county will not provided food or tackle of any kind. I guess this is some kind of policy. But, nevertheless, the ramp at dead lake is brand new. I just thought I might chime in and let you people know.
