Good call on staying close to home with price of gas being high and slabs like that with swelling bellies getting ready for the spawn. Starting to see the color change on the males, looks like it's almost time for them to go to the bank in your area.

That a HOG!!
Congrats.
Oil prices are falling but why leave the honey hole you got that must be very close in order to fish during your lunch break.
BON TEMPS!!

I never have understood why someone would leave the areas they know like the back of their hand to drive 6-10 hours to fish a area totally unknown. Just my 2 cents. I spend so much time learning what's under the water's surface when I just enter an area I have not fished in a couple of years. A quick sidescan, idling thru structure ridden areas, (stumps), taking time to observe what is on the surface, this eats time quickly. I've been traveling to Ross Barnett for over 15 years now to fish a "Getaway Spot" and this was where I developed my opinion. My first trips I came home with fish but that was because they were plenty more then than there are where I fish today. I come home with fish today because of the experience of the last 15 years. Toledo - Rayburn - Reelfoot - even Logan Martin all about the same driving distance but I wouldn't know where to start once I arrived at any of them. Definitely knowing where to fish is Priceless..........
