That's a really good one. I consider them and white bass panfish. I get a few out of a couple lakes here but never get one bigger than your hand. Going fishing there today so may catch a couple.

Looks pretty dang big to me. 10” is a master angler award here. I also consider them panfish, they thump a crappie jig well and are fantastic eating

Very nice catch. Is this a hybrid? I notice the broken stripes. May go by a different name elsewhere?
    Thanks,

One of those 2 was pretty close to 10 inches and it was the first fish of the day and it just absolutely hammered the jig too

Yellow hues and broken stripes above the anal fin and dark stripes are usually straight run yellow bass , they occasionally hybridize with white bass here though and are sometimes hard to distinguish except for the size , the hybrid versions are typically solid fish at 12 or more inches long

I don’t think I’ve ever caught a yellow bass . Not sure if we have them around here .
But I would call them panfish , just like white bass . That I know we have . I’ve caught a few whites . Lot of fun on an ultralight.

Them’s fun when they’re that size. Really like the white bass too but don’t find many.
