Default 2/25/2026 Fly a kite or go fishing ?

With a front predicted to blow through during the day and bring with it 35 mph plus winds I had decided to not put myself through that misery. However, at 8:30 when I went outside there wasn’t even a slight breeze sooo…
I was on the water in less than 20 minutes and had 10 thick blacks in my livewell within in the first hour. Then as if someone turned on the wind tunnel fan it blew so hard I had to tighten my cap strap because it was blowing my hat off while spot lock was fighting with all 36 volts to keep me in the vicinity of my spot.
Fished another hour and ended up keeping 17 black slabs and 1 large mouth bass. Fish caught pitching a 1/16 oz jig with Monkey Milk BG baby shad. Fish were at 8 ft in 12 ft of water.
Lesson today: Seize The Moment!! You won’t regret it! At least you won’t regret it as much as you would regret not trying!!!
    Bon Temps!

Good job especially fighting the wind. It's hard fishing like that.

I usually fish with 1/32 oz jig but it wouldn’t swing out from the boat to more than 8 ft on my 10 ft pole due to the wind.

When you pitch it left and it blows right it's time to fish something heavier..

Fishing Kite Jigs. Them baby jigheads are for shallower water anyway. I know you like to use them. And how Deep? We're warming up, everyone beats the banks, and you're catching like its summertime. I showed Keith that when we filmed the first Lock 1 video, everyone was beating the banks for naught. We fished deep water and he caught his personal best to date Sacalait. We caught fish all day.
