Default Ice spud bar revival recommendations

Anybody have any good advice on trying to retrieve a spud bar? I just bought a vexilar and wanted to make sure it worked. Long story short I spudded an area and seemed good but couldn't walk on it without out it starting to break so I tried an area closer and there goes my spud!!! It's only 2 weeks old lol. Anyway, not sure if there is a cheap magnet or another way to retrieve it without spending a lot of money since there like $70 or go buy another one and chalk it up as lesson learned. I guess my ice season is officially over especially with warmer temps coming. I guess I should also ask if there's a good way to check my vexilar now that the ice isn't safe?

strong magnet on a strong line.
And a strap around your wrist next time so it doesn't happen again.......
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

You shouldn't need any more than this : Access to this page has been denied (95lb pull) if your spud bar doesn't weigh more than say 15lbs.

If you want other options or price ranges .... Google "magnet fishing equipment" and you'll see magnets of various pull strengths, or even "kits" containing two or more of these items : (magnet, rope, gloves, carry bag)

If the water isn't to deep and clear enough you should be able to see it laying on the ice with a blanket over your head,a lot of times they stand straight up poked in the bottom.
When we young we used to spear fish pike out of dark houses a lot and reopened many holes with spud bar our all had a short loop of rope on the end you wrapped around your wrist, just for problem your having. Dad and gramps hand made there bars as did all the old timers and it was quite time consuming to make the perfectly weighted bar.

Well, I got it back! Bought a 150lb magnet and some heavy duty rope. Got it on my first try!

    COOL !!

Now ... just be careful dropping/dragging that magnet around the lake bottom, especially around bridges or docks or launch ramps. You might end up pulling up guns, ammo, bombs, hooking onto cars/bikes, or who knows what.

If you've watched any of the magnet fishing videos, you know what I mean !!

Just watched some YouTube videos. Pretty crazy what people pull out of the water. Looks fun

I don't have that kind of luck finding things. I can't keep up with the remote 75% if the time.
