Happy ... I doubt the Catfish & Bluegill would allow a nightcrawler to get anywhere near a Crappie, around here.

Now, that being said, Google AI says this :

Based on search results, the areas where using worms for crappie is most common or effective include:

    • Florida: Anglers in South Central Florida have reported success using worms and nightcrawlers during late spring and summer, sometimes finding them more effective than minnows in specific lakes.
    • Texas: Reports indicate that during periods of high rainfall and chilly weather in spring, worms (and grass shrimp) are effective, particularly because they wash into the lake.
    • North Carolina/Virginia: In lakes like Kerr Lake (Buggs Island), worms are a viable option, especially in spring, and anglers in eastern NC have specifically reported high instances of finding worms in the diet of crappie caught in creek systems

Been a long time since I've used crawlers but would assume a crawler placed in front of a crappie would get eaten sometimes. I have caught a lot of crappie fishing smaller plastic worms for bass.

I don't catch many on crawlers. More on leeches than crawlers and that is still not many.

I have never used worms to target crappie but with that said I think everything in the water will eat a worm, around here anyway. There are also way better options than worms for crappie in my opinion.

Was watching a youtube video where a guy said nightcrawlers were not good for crappie, but a lot of people (hopefully not bots) were commenting that they had caught a lot of crappies on crawlers. Was just seeing what people here say. Im going to try them at a pond where I know there are footballs

After are ground unthaws in early May and we have are first thunder storm we pick night crawlers, at a few locations on gravel roads, they only come out then you won’t see them the rest of the summer. So we pick 15-25 dozen for the summer, put them in a old fridge exchange the dirt every few weeks.
I use the year around summer and ice fishing and yes Crappie like them as does everything else that swims in the lake
