    Default Spider rigging vs longline

Will either one be fine now in cold water or does one excel over the other.

I would expect Spider Rigging to be the better option of the two during the cold water season. The simple reason being the ability to go at very slow speeds under those conditions. Long Line Trolling & Pushing may be a better option once the fish get started moving towards spawning grounds in the pre-spawn period. The reason being that the fish are somewhat scattered, so the increased speed of those methods allows you to cover more territory in a shorter amount of time.

    Oh, and to Crappie.com !!
