    Default Smithville guys

Think the ice will be good enough for a 2026 trip? You guys had a couple good posts last year.

Early reports (as of yesterday) show maybe 2" of ice? More in some areas, I'm sure, but (and this is the important thing!) LESS in others!

With sub-freezing temps forecast for the entire week, I think there will be some safe ice (not that ANY ice is "safe ice", tbh! ) by middle to end of the week?

There might be some who venture out sooner , but...I'd be inclined to wait. Heck, I'm not even going to go out and check, but...that has more to do with my schedule this week than anything else.

MAYBE I'll go out this coming weekend? But...I might be headed to WI for a few days so that would keep me off the ice down here.

I'm struggling to get too excited about it, too, cuz...the fish at Smithville have been so reluctant lately. It's like...what's the point?!

Went across W bridge last Monday afternoon and 3 people were walking on the ice in that cove immediately Southeast of the bridge, out in the middle quite a way. Thought it might be some familiar gewbers, but the truck on the side of the road said conservation agent.
