    Default Started off Hot

I got to the town pond around noon and fished until two .
One rod , 7’ 13Fishing Defy Silver ULF , reel Shimano Soare bb2000spg with Ultegra 2000s spool . Spooled with 2# moss green CXX.

It started off hot . I caught a green fish on my first cast , followed by a couple of gills on cast two and three . Cast six was another gill at 12:16 . Then the well went dry until I caught a decent gill at 1:08.
Then nothing but a couple of tail nippers and one long distance release the rest of my trip .
I must have caught the tail end of a feeding period .
I think the lunar feeding times are important this time of year . But I don’t go by them entirely.
    1 bass 4 gills trip .
Weather was sunny 41-46 degrees with that NW wind that kept me on the sunny side of the pond .
I love winter fishing , no competition most of the time .

Great looking fish. Know it was a great feeling for the rod tip to dance and the line to get a bit of a stretch...Congrats

I went back to the pond again today for an hour and a half .
Best weather we’ve had but the catching was tough .
Mostly cloudy with a mostly light SE wind , occasional gusts . Temps in the low fifties.
I even tried some new jig colors .
The only rod that caught anything was my 4’10” Major Craft Finetail Glass rod paired with a Daiwa Exceler 1000LT with a shallow Legalis 1000s spool , and 3# Floroclear .
This little rod would load up and cast my drop shot rig almost as far as the 7’ rod I used yesterday. A lot lighter too. For a fiberglass rod , it’s amazingly sensitive.
And it makes a good looking combo .
Ended up with two gills and a fun UL size bass .
Guess they like it when it’s windy .

Edit : forgot to mention. Best color today was an olive green with a chartreuse head .
