Using a couple 6’ TFO UL Trout and Panfish rods , my Pastime and one of my TFO T&P II rods ; I visited the town pond again this morning for two and a half hours.
Both were paired with Shimano Soare bb 500spg reels , one loaded with 2# P line Floroclear, the other 2# P line CXX moss green .
I’ll be changing the Floroclear to CXX before next trip . I had a 11-12” bass break off while I was attempting to slide it up the bank .
The weather was overcast and windy at times 6-14mph . Temps ranged from 50-54 while I was there .
I ended the trip with six bass and five gills .
All caught on the drop shot , but this trip I tried using a cheap 3.2g spoon without a hook as a drop shot weight .
It worked great . I got good distance , a little farther than with the 1/16 ball weight ; and the spoon slid over the slime and dead moss on the pond’s bottom without getting a blob of algae on it .
I also tried some different streamers that I had tied to use with a flyrod. One with olive green chenille body , olive rabbit fur tail , had olive green rubber legs and was palmered with hackle like a woolybooger.
That’s what caught my biggest bass of around 14” . A nice chunky fish .
A couple other bass was in the 12” range , with the rest fingerings .
The weather has been either too cold or the streets too wet to ride my bike so I’ve turned to fishing for my winter exercise. And I’m enjoying it .

Looking good, numbers keep going up, figuring out those cold water fish. Where did you get those fishing gloves ? I had a pair just like that but lost my right one. Really liked them in cold weather. Still use the left one with another mismatched one. You don't have an extra right one do you? Haven't been able to find gloves just like them. Do you know where I can get a pair?

BPS used to offer fingerless polar tech gloves, I have several pair. I'm sure Amazon has 'em.
Good catch.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Carhartt has them also .
Even Jesus had a fish story ! Actually five .
I found some similar gloves in black on Amazon by Ozero but they are convertible mitts . Said I had bought a pair 5 years ago. LOL .
Got to looking in my glove box and found them . I removed the mitts and I’m going to try them out today. The high today is 40 but very windy. Colder than yesterday. I’ll be fishing the sunny side and plan on only fishing about 1 1/2 hours.
They seem a little tight around the fingers. Maybe they will loosen up while I use them.
These are large , I ordered another pair in X-Large.
I’ll let you know how they do .

I went to the town pond this afternoon. It was about 12:30 when I arrived. The temperature was around 38 with a windchill around 30 . Gusty winds from 12-29 from the NNW .
I took one rod , a 6’6” St Croix Avid ULF . Reel was a Daiwa Fuego LT1000, spooled with 2# P-line CXX moss green .
The longer rod gave me a little more distance when I could catch a break in the wind that was blowing mainly from my left to right
I setup on the sunny side , fishing the drop shot with a size 12 streamer jig about 18” above my weight . I fished for about forty minutes before I caught a small bluegill to get the skunk off . Another fishless ten minutes and I decided to try the shaded side .
On the shaded side I realized the building about 100 feet behind me on the sunny side was blocking a lot of wind.
I got the full force of the wind on the shaded side.
I caught a small bass on my first cast . Then I catch two more out of my next three casts .
By this time , handling the bass, that felt like holding an ice cube , had gotten my thumb and index finger just about frozen with the cold wind pounding me .
I packed up and went home . Just too cold for this old man .
The black polar fleece gloves did pretty good after I discovered I could uncover my thumbs to grab fish or swipe my phone . Of course , the exposed part of my fingers got cold especially when they got wet . But I like the gloves .
I think the 28 we had this morning and front pushing through during the night shut the gills down .

I've got like 6 pairs of these, one in each of my winter coats pockets.
