Are they totally junk ? Thinking about s a small boat set up . Was told in shallow water (less than 25 ft,) they work fine . Will be targeting red ear in 25 ft. or less . Had a Garmin 1222 dial set up with and sold it due to transducer going bad . Was not interested in buying something every year or so . Thoughts ?
Even Jesus had a fish story ! Actually five .

I think that there are a couple of people who have them on Bass Boat Central and commented in the Lowrance section. If I’m not mistaken, the max usable distance might be 40’, and the dual beam setup seems to use up screen space unless you set it up for deep to compensate. It still might be a good, less expensive rig for small boats or to have as a second unit despite the drawbacks.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

I bought one for fly inns up north. I have used mine up to 80ft deep lake trout fishing with no issues at all. I have since used it ice fishing in 6 to 15ft of water using very small ice jigs with no issues. They are not what a full unit is but they defiantly work and have their place in the arsenal.
