Default Too busy to ketch fish ?

Seems so to me , it's like I run into myself daily when I turn around . Go Johnny Go is me ....
Between all the hunting and performances and holiday festivities , I just have not been able to steal a few moments ....
It's been over a month now , but in my travels I decided to drop of some Christmas cheer to my friend who owns a private dock I like .....it was in my path to other spots I had to hit and he is good people ......
Rolled up and his gate was closed and I thought uh oh ......called him and he said we are closed for the holidays ....
said well I came by to drop off a Christmas gift and he said all good just close the gate when you come thru ....
met up with him and said merry Christmas and asked if it might be ok to go drop a jig for a moment or 2 ...
    said sure .......
rounded the corner and low and behold ..... a giant swarm of pelicans , cormorants and gulls losing them bird minds right off the dock in open water .....
the thought crossed my mind the fish were all out there , but drop that jig anyhow ....right ?
it was nada , not a peck .....almost said oh well and then I thought, I felt an ever so slightest nudge .....
set the hook and nada ....about said time to go and then I got what I was pretty sure was tee tiny bream peck ...
thought wasting time , still got gifts to deliver and eased away from the spot I got pecked .....
as I moved ever so slowly towards the exit ....seemed like my jig grew heavier ....set the hook and ...
KABOOM ! thought too big and heavy to be a crappie , likely a drum or catfish .....
6 foot of water and 8 lb test and a short 5 5 fiberglass rod will put a whipping on a pretty big fish right quickly...
Well much to my surprise , right up it came and it lost its mind ....
in the bone was my jig and then a quickee time delay photo , before the fish got released .....
3 of the 12 were really nice crappie and the others were just regular sized crappie ....
was a pleasant 30 minutes for sure ...
    Merry Christmas till roll again

There are those that sneak up on unsuspecting crappie in boats with LS and ridiculously LONG rods at distances that befuddle my mind and then there is me standing on top of them in camo very quietly
