    Default Green this weekend

Had another great weekend. Fishing was a little harder than last weekend. Saturday the bite was a lot better than Sunday. Fish wasn't as aggressive as they were the past weeks and tighter to cover and the bottom. Still caughting them on the same jigs and colors. The only difference was sunday the devil minners out fished the hair jigs. I am guessing pulling the lake made a difference in the fish. Saturday we had 86 keepers most of those was 11 to 14" with 3 fish under 9". Sunday Had 72 keepers most being 11 to 14" with 5 fish that was under 9". But both days had to fish more water than weeks pass and Sunday probably hit 70 different spots. All but 15 or so of the fish was released to bite another day..

Some may say .... ahh, he's just guessing on the numbers. No sir, he ain't !! He has counters and uses them religiously to determine the number of fish caught vs the number of keepers caught. And as for "sizes" ... he can look at a Crappie & tell the length within 1/4" (I've seen him do it, numerous times !!)

Sun was tough. I left with 18 good ones. I camped out on brush too long and did some open water fishing trying to get used to using Crappie brakes to chase open water fish and work on boat control. You would think after 50 years of fishing Id be able to run down a lazy old crappie but had to teach myself all over again switching from a Minn Kota to a Garmin Kraken TM and the different foot pedal along with using brakes it was like learning to walk again but buy the end of the day I was snatching a few. The brush I was fishing the Crappie were buried in I guess that falling water defiantly had them boogered up . I didn't even get on the water till about 11 am with that crazy fog. I was using hair jigs and Crappie magnets. Im going to order a few of your plastics and give them a try. I like the profile on that devil minner

I was out there with Alex fishing in the same channel lol. I'm pretty sure we were the only 2 boats on the lake. He was smart enough to launch at Holmes bend. I ran down from Green River Marina....might have been my coldest boat ride . It wasn't too bad as the day went on. I ended up keeping 10 for supper I was mostly scouting for some upcoming trips but ended up fishing open water because the fish in the Brush just wouldn't cooperate.
