My new favorite strainer/spoon that lets me clean the oil WHILE I'm cooking!
You guys might already have been using these, but I just stumbled on them a few months back and think they're about the best thing ever!
I can't remember which brand I bought, but there are a lot of them. It's called a "Fat Skimmer Spoon".
I use it to scoop out all the junk on the bottom of the cooking oil after every 2-3 batches of fish/fries.
The mesh is so small it catches even the tiny little grains of corn meal floating around in the oil.
No more dirty looking fish towards the end of the cooking!!
Anyways, I cooked a big mess yesterday and everybody was asking about it so wanted to share with you guys in case anybody else out there might benefit.

The corn starch sort-of works but it never gets the bottom of the cooker as clean as I wanted and is a messy process.
The little mesh scooper gets it like brand new oil after a few scoops.
I tried all sorts of things and was blown away by the little scooper.
I do a lot of fish frying and always hated that the fish look dirtier and darker towards the end of the cooking, but not any more!
