Thread: Well, I didn't get skunked...

The schedule and wind cooperated this afternoon, but the fish at Ross Barnett Rez weren't cooperating so much--I needed minnows. Other people that I saw at both locations were also having as similar problem, although the one boat with minnows did catch a few more while livescoping. I tried multiple jig combinations spider rigging and livescoping at a couple of places, and the bites were either extremely light or they lost interest chasing. The catfish caught while livescoping off a stump kept me from getting skunked, and the 11.5" crappie ironically was while I was trolling around moving towards another set of stumps with branches holding fish. This is likely the last trip of the year in my boat because I will need to do some repair work on it this winter; however, if I get a break in the weather and schedule during repairs, I could use my dad's boat, since he isn't using it much due to old age.

I went Saturday up here on Bay Springs with similar luck. Got on a big pile covered with fish, and tried the forward sonar thing again. Beating my head against the wall!
Caught two ten inch black crappie pretty quick, then sat and tried every jig and presentation in my bag. They would get interested and nose up to the jig, then fade back to the brush.
Tried holding still, wiggling line with my finger, taking it away slow, fast.
Could not put a third in the box, tried for hours. Bay is getting back clear like it used to be, like tap water. See everything lying on the bottom in six or more feet of water. Saw a crew of side pullers working their craft, they’re probably catching fish. But I’m way out of touch with that lake now.
