All my trash goes into plastic trash bags into the trash container so I never see the maggots. My granddaughter will clean her mess from the car to the container and it will fill with maggots. A little Dawn and bleach with the hose nozzle has it cleaned for a month or 2.
One trash company collector would drag the container from the curb to the truck. Pretty soon there were holes in the bottom. Maggots would roll out when they could. Mockingbirds would pick all they wanted.
Talked to my friend yesterday. A friend of his has a pond with skinny catfish. He planted post in the pond with a tray on top made of hardware cloth. Keeps plastic bags of fish trimming with holes on the trays. In a year the fish were fat as they should be. He's added bream to the pond too.
