Yes, it's real abalone shell that's been polished and cut before being applied. It's a bit of a hassle—if it's too thick, it won't reflect light well, and if it's too thin, it's prone to breaking through.

He made baits that looked like baby crappie, bluegill you name it they all looked real. He hand carved everything.
He also made custom oak mirrors and other items from wood.

It's truly challenging to craft these pieces. Smaller ones demand meticulous attention to detail, while larger ones require significantly more carving time. Overall, the larger pieces are more difficult to make. That's why I price the small ones at $35 and the large ones at roughly three times that amount. I don't think I'd sell them for over $100, as that would place a heavy burden on buyers. Honestly, I make these primarily for enjoyment. Of course, if they bring in some extra income, that's a wonderful bonus.

I agree, these are works of art. I also agree with 6poundtest. Send Slab a PM about your own Blog Page. Mine is there though I haven't posted on it in a bit, though that's going to get busy very shortly.
Those really are works of art.

Feather lures—it seems I'm not only skilled at making lures, but I also have a knack for photography. Not bad shots.
