It's pretty though. Looks like the last photo has the blue scales on back up near the head too.
might be a new subspecies , who knows for sure ......
if you google the possible causes of this type of coloration , it might surprise you .....
really handsome fish in the sunlight and a large number of them ...around 50 / 50 exhibited the blue tail scales .....
one thing for certain , just beautiful in the sunlight bigtime ....

I’ve seen that on our fish before, seems more prevalent in colder months. Sometimes it’s more purple than blue, at least to my eyes. Off to google now

good observation bro , after the boat ride I had about 15 minutes to get rid of and went to the "fishing" dock .
I managed 6 over there really quickly , only 2 were keepers and I gave them to whoever the guy was that only had 2 .
one of the short fish was in that there "blue" mode all over itself ....

according to some research a bud did ,the possible cause of the "blue hues" could be cattle growth hormones . that is for sure cattle country out there and it does not seem like a big stretch to me .
that said , pretty much EVERY body of water nationwide has some form of something in it , that should not be in the water , mankind doing what we do , it seems to me
one lake north of me , used to be my favorite lake to hit for a variety of species , about when I was slacking up on visiting it , a rather large article came out about the water being full of antidepressants, Prozac in particular was the medicine of concern , when a human consumes chemicals that are not actually intended for humans to consume , often times they pass thru the body chemically unchanged in large amounts , up 75% in some cases the first time they go wee wee ....
my grandpa, the doc, had a PDR that explained this occurrence, to me in fine detail, way back when ....![]()
