What time of year are you fishing?

For the 3rd straight year, we vacationed at this beautiful lake. According to lake surveys there are Crappie in the lake. We have pounded the weeds, laydowns and even trolled a few areas looking for them. Nothing. We did manage some 10 in perch, but no crappies. Anyone else able to find them here?

Well, you look as handsome as the perch, or close.
September you my be looking at suspended fish out over deep water depending on water temp there may be loose schools or tight together this is where a good SI is invaluable. Search open water over the deepest part of the lake was just up around Hayward Wisconsin fish were so loosely schooled in open water you could get only one to bite then move on. If we could of found large schools the results are way different. . What ended up working for us was trolling Beetle Spins over weeds in 10 feet or more of water anywhere from 1.2 to 2.0 MPH.Letting out enough line ( in this case 8-12 feet behind the boat ) to tick the weeds. Cleaned a lot of weeds off not a fast and furious bite but covering a whole lot of water. After a while you find certain ares of the weeds holding more fish then others, then concentrate on these areas, day to day this can change. Was not fast and furious but huge overall average size wise.
