Default Kayak Trip Report, Forest Ingram Lake

Work has kept me busy for a couple months, but finally got on the water yesterday. Made a rookie mistake and forgot to charge my fish finder battery so I was hunting suspended fish blind. I still managed 9 that were 9 1/2 to 10 inches and return a couple dozen short fish.

Hoping work will return to normal busy where I can get on the water more regularly.

Glad you could get out on the water some. Sounds enjoyable. Hopefully you can back out there soon.

The water was only a few inches deep in the channel from the launch, down maybe two feet from full pool. I was able to paddle without issue and a flat bottom would probably make it, but larger boats wouldn't.

Returned to Forest Ingram today (with a working fish finder) but still a slow day. Kept 21, returned endless little ones but the fish were scattered. There's a solid thermocline at between 13 and 14 feet throughout the lake. Where I found baitfish, I found a few Crappie just below them. All fish came off a 1/32 oz jig head with a 1" slider grub fished slow and deep on 4 pound line casting.

Pics tomorrow when I clean them!

FYI, visibility at Ingram was two feet and 77 degrees at daylight. Warmed to 80 by midday and the lake is a couple feet low. The channel from the put in is only a few inches deep so the big boats can't get in. Kayaks won't have a problem, and flat bottoms should be able to pole through the channel.
