    Default Slip Sinkers?? Better? Same?

Being laid up with my new knee has given me the opportunity to pause and take time to go down rabbit holes on the internet looking for everything and anything about catching Sacalait. I ran across a utube clip which described why putting bobber stoppers above and below ones drop shot sinker above ones jig helped reduced snags because the sinker could slide down to the jig.
Does anyone have experience using this technique? I have used this technique when I put a bright colored bead above my jig. I guess one would not squeeze the drop shot weight very tight to allow it to slide up or down one’s line or purchase 1/32 or 1/16 drop shot made like a bead?

Looking forward to responses on this one??

Always a slip sinker above my jig but two boober stops seems like a little much so I slide my slip sinker on the main line (braid) then tie a snap swivel or a snap/split ring to my flouro then to the jig with a snap swivel.

When it breaks the swivel on the main line is almost always still there so just clip another pre-tied jig on and I'm fishing again.

So you crimp a split shot on a piece of floro with a jig tied on the end.
I usually tie my jig directly to what I have spooled, typically 8lb mono , then I crimp a split shoot which is equal or less in weight than the jig weight about a foot above the jig.
The challenge is the crimped weight once tangled on brush will not slide down to the jig to make unsnagging easier.
Your method like mine doesn’t allow the split shot to slide easily.
Thanks for reply. I hadn’t heard of a sliding weight and how helpful it might be when vertical jigging in brush. Your method works and I used it for a while but concluded the fish were not spooked by the mono where I fish because the water clarity was not very clear here.

sounds right complicated to me , I think it's a float or no float and a jig , at least thats always the plan here when we set out to ketch crappie

Yeah, Ketchn is right. Bud where we live you add hardware you reduce bites. Tie right to your jig with the braid, use a sharpie to black out your braid from your jig to 5ft above, carry 5in pieces of 3/4in hardwood dowel, and when you snag, wrap the braid around the dowel, give it a tug, and retrieve your jig. Use a jighead heavy enough to present your offering like you want.

I agree. It just seems to complicate a simple jig tied to a string.

salty fish eat way more often than freshies , the metabolic rate is way higher on them salty versions , if you try to apply anything salty to your presentation when it comes to crappie , it will likely be a pretty large fail ....
salty fish like extra everything , freshy fish not all that often .....
