This summer so far, I've trying to explore new waters on my own or bigger waters by myself since the Racoon and his wife moved to the Far East (Bertie County, NC not China). For the first time in my life, I was able to explore Lake Marion via Sparkleberry Landing in my own kayak, but I went with an outdoor recreation group called SC-7. I fished a little bit before the group arrived and caught 2 dink yellow perch and lost a big mudfish which I said a few unholy words. Explored with group and I asked the group leader about the fishing and navigation of the area. Fishing can be good he said but one can get lost in Sparkleberry. One kayaker was a following a group of kayakers thinking he had a way out and found out they were lost as he was. Sparkleberry and Lake Marion gave me a fishy vibe. Is there a place where I can fish near the area where I won't get lost and be able to catch fish within safe kayaking confinement. Pack's Landing still open? My parents bank fished Santee State Park couple times but blanked. Or anybody knows any Sparkleberry guides or good Santee Panfish guides so I could learn lil local knowledge?
Oh I could wrestle a monster fish![]()

Packs Landing is open and had recent outstanding upgrades to the road, parking lot docks. It’s very easy to kayak there. There are lots of big gators in the area. Bream bass crappie catfish is excellent. Also great fishing for non boaters. I live[emoji6
