I think it's Victory hooks being used on the jigs I bought. They seem to be pretty good.

I have been trolling jigs with sickle hooks and have used the following:

    Mustad, Victory, Eagle Claw

Not much difference and all are good but I would rank them in that order.

Single poling, I see no difference in those three sickle options

For crappie and gills the sickles get my vote in size 12 to a #2. Bigger hooks from #1 and bigger I use Trokar hooks. Mainly use THE Victory sickles even though I think Matzuo's were better. I just tied up the last of my #6 Matzuo sickles but still have some in other sizes. I think wire diameter is thinner on the Matzuo sickles than all the other brands and hooks penetrate better.

Mustad, Matzuo's, Eagle Claws and have some of the Lil Nasties. I still have 3000 of the BN Matzuo size 6. But I also have some of the old regular round bend jig hooks. As long as I have jigs that don't cost an arm and a leg I really don't worry about it.
