    Default Wind and waves, 8-2

After a morning of errands and some quality time spent watching the hummingbirds swarm our feeders, I loaded things up for a trip to the pond. 72 at waters edge and 79 for a water temperature out over the basin when I launched at 3:25. It was calm at the house but blowing pretty good on the water from the NW. That wasn't too bad to deal with but 20 minutes in to my trip, the one and only power boat on the pond fired up to pull some skiers and then a bunch of tubers and didn't quit until I beached at 6:30. Just my luck.
I'd troll alongside my favorite contour up and the around the point without a hit of any kind. In fact, the first hour ticked by with nary a bite.
However, once I got over close to the eastern shore, things came to life. I'd cast and retrieve a bit, picking up the first fish of the night, a good bluegill then a good perch. Didn't take a picture of either of those but started snapping pics when I got the first crappie of the night on a Roadrunner with a Southern Pro Triple tail grub.

The power boat would produce a lot of big waves tonight and oddly, the more I got bounced around, the better the bite was. I guess the fish wanted the herky-jerky movements. All my catching was done between 4:30 and 5:30 while riding the waves. I'd troll back and forth along that shore in a line maybe 200 yards long and a little bit back along the inside turn of the contour, hooking a fish or 2 each time. I was trolling 3 Roadrunners, 2 with triple tail grubs and one with a BG Baby shad, Patriot color.

I decided to head back basically the same way I came out but riding with the wind headed home and would get blanked again.
Total of 13 would come topside, not big numbers but all quality fish. Also lost a couple before I could get the net deployed. All would be returned for others to catch. Definitely a good trip, despite the conditions.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
