Default the Dogdays of summer are upon us it seems

and the fish are for sure in the middle of the summer bite.
one of my favorite spots seems to be producing almost nothing from the local reports.
some of my other solid spots are producing limited amounts of very difficult to ketch fish.
but to be sure sitting in the ac on the couch ain't gunna get it done ....
fish real slow and easy and downsize if all else fails ....
luck to ya on your next go ....
    and KABOOM
p.s. some might even want to try a minnow or 2 , just saying
    just not me .....

Fished Lake Tawakoni for the first time. I heard it was a great crappie lake but never fished it. I've often fished Fork, but never Tawakoni. Since I just moved back I got a slip in Duck Cove Marina to keep the pontoon for a few months while I decided where I want to end up.

Every told me to fish the 2 mile bridge, on the ramp side, with minnows. So I bought three dozen minnows and a friend and I fished it.

Plenty of fish on the live scope but none of them looked like crappie. We were both skunked as to crappie but he put out a couple of rods fishing the bottom and caught four catfish, one sand bass and one yellow bass.

But I was stubborn. I was there to fish for crappie and I was going to fish for crappie. I was in around and above the fish but none would bite. If I got too close they would move away.

Based on the shape of the fish and the way they schooled in a straight line I suspect they were white bass. Jeffery did catch one white bass but most of them ignore the jigs and minnows and just swarm away if you became aggressive with them.

I don't feel too bad about it as there were three other boats there fishing for crappie and they were also skunked.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.
