It was a hot one !
We met up at noon at our designated first stop and while we were talking and getting our gear ready , this guy drives up and hurriedly jumps out , grabs his tackle and practically runs downhill to the spot we were going to fish , turns around and asked “ where y'all going fish ? “ I told him in the lake . We got back in our vehicles and went to plan B .
I just don’t understand people. LOL !
We spent a little over three hours in what ever shade we could find casting micro jigs .
We caught numbers but they were all little guys .
I ended up with five small spotted bass and forty two assorted gills . My buddy had a tough day , but managed fifteen total.
With the heat neither of us had our hearts into it .
Fun getting out, but I can’t wait until fall and winter fishing .
I not sure what these are exactly, some kind of redbreast hybrid , I’m thinking . But I love catching them . If they got as big as redears , they give them a run for their money in the fighting department.

There is more shade if you get there earlier. High noon I'm finished here. When it's hot fish like the shade too and I hang around those areas as well. You found enough there to make you happy and that's what matters.
Very nice post. We search for shade from the bank and boat as well. The humidity has been oppressive

Here , it’s a trade off this time of year between temperature and humidity. Early morning it’s a few degrees lower than at noon , but the humidity is usually upwards of 90% and drops below 50% around noon .
If we can catch a little breeze , it makes it tolerable for a few hours of wetting a line and scratching that itch .
The water temperature this time of year is in the mid 80’s and nothing of any size visits the shallows much .
The water level is near full pool and this makes a shallow ring around most of the lake that I can see the bottom as far as I can cast .
I much prefer fishing the fall and winter draw down , where the deeper water is more accessible.
Beats sitting home , can’t catch them from the sofa .
Humidity at the lake today.

I went yesterday with the intention of finishing between 10 and 11, but it didn’t work. Started real early on a bank I’d seen some topwater activity Friday but nothing doing but one 14” spot. Had I not chased shade for the whole trip I’d have kept with my plan, it was hot. I got numbers of the smalls like you did and 5 spots and 2 cats that made me smile. Glad you got out and found some. Like you said, better at the lake than at home.
