Small lakes and rivers are all I fish. Clear water I use 2-4 lb mono for crappie and other sunfish, mostly use hand ties 1/24 or less. Hook size is a #4 or smaller hook tipped with a waxworm or piece of Berkley power wiggler to turn the nippers into biters.

If the lake is pressured the fish has seen a lot, so your gonna have to downsize your bait to the smallest bait you can control, and now the color is gonna have to be what the fish are feeding on in that particular lake, is there shad, use a natural shad color, no shad only small bread- bass- crappie fry they are feeding on, you need to stick with that, but in my fishing experience I would fish with a 1/64 oz bait about 1 inch long in white. Good Luck hope this helps.
