Default How sensitive is a crappie ?

Well about this sensitive in some cases ...
case in point , I roll up to downtown Ft. Worth and for some odd reason temporary fences are set up restricting access to the river
I almost said never mind and then me examined the situation closer and found me a hole in the fence .....
So down the slope I went looking to and fro trying to figure out what was going on and then ....
JUST WOW , a brand new floating bridge was being installed across the river !
Trying to wrap my mind around why ,since it was pretty darn close to a walkover permanent nice concrete bridge was me , as I slid down that steep bank to pitch a jig .
Well as it sometimes plays out first pitch was golden ....float stood up in the shade and Mr. me twitched it once ...down it went like a rock was tied on it ....
Was using my old 7 foot ultralight Tica one pc . and put some serious steam into the hookset ....
rod bends down as the hook sinks into something and it begins .....
no mind you this part ,,,,sometimes I wish I had me a go pro on my ballcap ....
up to the top comes a fish in a flash and before I could really ascertain what kind of fish ....
It took to the air in a near perfect complete cartwheel well above the water line , its head shaking gave it up as a nice bass and even though it wasn't the intended species I thought well it still beats nothing . So we battle on and it comes up again and this time only about half the fish breaks the surface and it's clearly trying to dislodge the jig while really vigorously shaking it's head and then goes down and turns right and pulls some drag on a short run .
Still in the it's a bass mode , it comes up a third time, still head shaking, closer to me, nearer the bank and oh my goodness , it's a really unhappy black crappie . go figure .....
I land it and enjoy it's beauty and get an image and back it goes ...
history repeats itself with another in that same spot the next cast and the third cast is a repeat as well ....it is on by golly , midday hammer time for sure ....
a white crappie gets in on it as the number 4 fish and the bite continues ....
about 8 fish into this episode ,I hear big boat motor....there aint no boats with motors in the river btw ,,,,,I look up river a bit and here comes a big barge with a crane and guys with chains and concrete blocks and it seems they are off their lunch break and going to work ....
So how sensitive are crappie actually you might ask yourself .....
the minute they got to that floating bridge and started hollering and banging chains and generally destroying the serenity banging on that floating bridge ..............
the bite TOTALLY went south , not another peck no matter how hard I tried
off I went after asking a few questions , seems it's only temporary for the fourth of July crowd coming to panther pavilion next Friday .....
one thing for sure it unsettled the fish in a BIG way quickly ....
such was that lunch break , and then ,until I ride again ...
    KABOOM is near

Kinda surprised the big Black did all the acrobatics, even for a "river fish" ... but it wouldn't have surprised me in the least if it was a Blacknose doing the acrobat shenanigans, as they've played that game with me on several occasions.

Some good ones there, love it when they jump. Those black crappie in my experience are the jumpers, can't remember a white ever jumping.

I was at a bank once and they had these big vault safe type things but one was open so I took a bunch of money.

I've never seen a sign that says keep out unless you find a hold in the fence?

locally in some locations both species jump for me , whites about as much as blacks , we see it fairly frequently in some locations some days .
best white I ever encountered getting some really big air was a spring run male white crappie that weighed in at 2 lbs 4 oz .....
that fish did a big air huge cartwheel more than once during that episode of hold my beer and watch this , my bud with me at the time ,was in big eyed jaw drop mode when I yelled ....
    that word .....KABOOM
