Default For your entertainment. Saw this one coming.

Got a rock hit today. Saw it coming clear as a bell. About a 1.5 inch rock as a utility truck with a small trailer went by. Circle in glass about 2.25 inches. I was going 50 mph, not sure about him. No opportunity to chase him down. Oh well, another $250. Just replaced 7 months ago almost to the day. This one scared me. It was almost directly in my line of sight. Will replace in my driveway Thursday. Y'all be careful out there.

By the way 7 months is not even close to my record between hits. I left a glass shop once with a new wind shield and got hit in 1 minute, a half mile from the glass shop.Gravel truck passing. Went straight back and the guy said " forget something?". I showed him the hit, it was also bad. He said pull it up, I have another one. He said "no charge, I made enough off your first one". Thank you.

Ouch, that hurts! I was driving through St Louis years ago when all of a sudden rocks were flying everywhere. Not sure how many vehicles were damaged, after about a mile a dump truck with its bed raised high was sitting on the shoulder of the road empty. Not sure how I missed getting damaged as there were about 20 vehicles lined up behind the truck

Danny, here in Florida you don't have to pay for windshields. It's part of a legal requirement of the insurance companies here to pay for windshield replacements with no deductible, no charge. I'm sure we pay for it anyway, one way or another, and I'm not sure its a great idea, but at least I don't have to worry about any out of pocket to replace my windshield.

And actually, my premium ain't any higher than prior to my moving here. I myself broke the windshield in my brand new "at the time" windshield on my F250 when installing a backup Camera/Mirror thing. I broke it myself, and I was fuming. We just got any old deductible when we moved just to have insurance, and I thought it would be $250 out of pocket. I freaked out when they said, no worries, no deductible on windshields. WHAT!

Anyway, sorry it happened, but hey, on the bright side, at least you got a clean windshield now! lol

I had farm Bureau once told me that a broken windshield and head light cover was going to be two deductibles . I said excuse me ? They said unless I saw the same rock hit both it was two claims . That was exactly how it happened . lol guy dropping a load of slag on an icy bridge raised the dump truck bed going 50 miles per hour . Thought no one was around .Buick 98 had to be painted also .

once upon a time in a far away place we were happily driving about 75 or so on a stretch of highway near the south end of Colorado , bluebird day , not a cloud in the sky , pretty relaxed and just cruising home .
Apparently in that part of the world there are rather large strong "dust devils " .....
out of nowhere came a dust devil with almost no dust in it , basically transparent until you saw it up close and personal , at first I thought a plane buzzed us at close range ....the turbulence was totally unreal ....
like it almost entirely picked the truck up off the pavement strong and about flipped us over , while it sprayed us with this tiny pea gravel that was just barely visible at the same time .....
one of them peas was about the size of a pea and put a tiny peck in the windshield , I hit the washers to clean off the dust and I suppose since it was blazing hot outside and the water was cool .....here we go .... we got to watch that tiny peck drive all around the windshield in the form of a crack the rest of the way home .....
wifes truck and she was not very happy the rest of the what seemd like a million miles and hundreds of hours to get home

It's just a part of driving, with the collection of almost "Legacy" vehicles I keep here I'm running to have one fixed regularly. No fixin' that one of yours "D". My Fishin' Expedition got a new piece of glass and on the very next trip to the river it was hit with a rock right on the bottom passenger side of the windshield where the glue is, it ran made a hook and is now about 1/2 way across horizontally. It will have to run further before I replace it.

Maybe ya gotta slow down and stop driving 180 MPH behind gravel trucks, j/k! Although you should be able to reduce your deductable for that. When I did have to pay for windshields I always made my deductible zero for new windshields, usually the comprehensive coverage. And the premium increase really was not much. just say'n
