Default Slow day but a good day.

Went out on Griffin again on sunday to teach my niece a thing or two. Hot and slow going. It wasn't until I got under some trees in Haines Creek that we found anything. Got two 12-13in crappie and this beautiful Lone Nose. 42in 16lb Gar on a #6 hook and 4lb hi-vis line. Took probably 15 mins to fight him to the net without breaking.

I have not fished Lake Griffin in 30 years. The Pine Island area on the NE side is where guys I know fish for them, New moon and Full moon. I live over 30 miles north of Griffin so I fish other lakes. If you see the lily pads bumping around then your in the right spot. The Brim and Shellcrackers bump into the pads chasing smaller fish away from their beds. In the 60's and 70's My uncle would drive his boat down wind and could smell the fish beds, then he would ease into the pads to fish.

I have seen some of Kurtis Mays Youtube videos where he catches them on Griffin. I highly recommend you to watch them even though they may be old videos.
