Sardis COE Oak Grove campground, on the lower lake has a pier for those that would leave their boat in the water. Wish their cabins were close.
George Cossar at Enid has cabins at the lakes edge, short walk, same for it's campground that's next door.
2 weeks with 1 reply doesn't look like the older days.
Think I'll rent a cabin at Cossar for a few days, give my kids a chance to join me on their off days.
Might find some locals that will fish and BS with me.

Several of us have tried this in Louisiana with about the same results. Shame nobody wants to get together anymore. Our last and only event we have any more is at Darbonne in November, but last year was the last time the guy is putting it on. Last year, there was one other family showed up besides the guy that was putting it on. I used to try to get a gathering together for Larto, a lake in the middle of Louisiana, for several years with very little feedback. Now I just go when I can and PM a few friends that usually go around the same time. Really sad that we don't get together like we use to really miss those days!

The crappie tournament leagues have made it tough to plan anything we have Crappie Masters , Magnolia crappie club , Crappie U.S.A. and Big FOUR crappie club .(Not counting benefit tournaments and fruit jars ) The smart clubs fish say Grenada Every weekend in July(spring board pre fishing by fishing tournaments on repeat lakes ) . Many try to qualify for championship in several clubs . lots of those that used to camp either have passed away or to old to camp anymore . The last camp(Crankfest )was a struggle . Almost all food was brought by out of state folks . It always amazed me how many find out at the last minute they got to come (only bringing an appetite) . lol I can remember when a post on the Mississippi page at 10 o'clock in the morning was on 3 pages by sundown . Lost money on everyone we held . Post several months old are common on first page now .![]()
Eagle1 is right. Most of the chat forums I used to be on or part of have folded. It cost too much to host the site. I’m sure there are a lot of “lookers” here and rarely post anything ( pretty guilty myself). These have been replaced by Facebook, instagram, TikTok, and such. There is about any kind of crappie group you can imagine on FB.

My wife and I came to the last one at Sardis which was the last one Billbob attended. We had a great time fishing and socializing. It is hard for us to commit to a 13 hour dive with the uncertainty of attendance or a camp materializing. The dates you chose also correspond with the KY fall camp which may or may not happen as last years camp fizzled due to low interest.![]()

Excuses, I know, but I got em.
Two dogs and a cat, can’t bring, can’t leave em. Don’t have a camper anymore, too uncomfortable to tent now. Cabins get booked up, plus $$$
I do miss the old days though, good times.

Know that's right J.
Have to add a extra large silver backed tarp to a tent to keep other camper's lights down. Need the extra tall queen or king air bed, blanket under the fitted sheet. A fan if it's warm or heater if cold. Maybe a heater mattress pad or electric blanket. 10 or 12 gauge short extension cords for them.
A cabin for 5 days so family could come on their off days. At half price that would cut into my doctor and living bills deep.
I sold my camper last year, back to a tent.
Think I'll just watch and see who post wanting a partner for a day and make the drive down without bringing a kayak unless someone wants to kayak too.
