went with an one acre dove field for doves this year. Sunflower field. The rain has been kind to them.

started blooming this week. All stocks already have heads on them. The extra rain has expedited them. I’ll update pics of the field over next few weeks. If they continue to bloom I’m doing back fields on creek bottom next year.

I haven't hunted doves in forever. I use to do Booth Jockey work during the SHOT Show every year or was still employed in the industry.

A conviction for Migratory Bird Hunting violation would have put me in the unemployment line so I have stayed away. Best of Luck on y'alls hunting this year. If a dove gets harvested here on the coast it is a local bird. Migratory Doves rarely make it this far anymore. The local fields here open up first split "pop, pop, pop". By second split all the resident doves are toast and the hunting is over unless a baited field.

Planted April 19th. Took almost 60 days to head out. Should be at full bloom, 75 days out from planting.

The guys in North MS plant wheat then burn the field toasting it. After bush hogging the wheat they disc it in. Every rain fresh wheat is exposed. Makes for good hunting.

You're raising residents too. always good to train them early where a meal ticket is.
