Thread: Jig body storage ideas

To save air space, you could try jig or tackle pouches, although ziplok bags would be a cheap experiment.

I currently organize all of mine in Plano 3600-style boxes, which it sounds like you are doing. I did have the boxes in a tackle bag, although I just rearranged the boat so that I didn't need the bag and now store my tackle in the built-in storage compartments. Typically, my most used ones get combined in one or two 3600s while the ones I haven't touched in a while get combined into archive 3600 boxes which might not be in the boat all the time, since I'm also hauling crankbaits and other long line setup tackle as well. I'm also rethinking my supply and extra stashes to possibly keep plastic jig supplies in bags again.

Im open to ideas,.. I fish out of a kayak so space is a premium. Large tackle boxes are a no-go.

When fishing out of my kayaks, I like using a crate in the back with rod holders and space to hold about 5 3700 boxes... what kayak do you use?

I used to keep my top plastics in a Plano container but they always seem to fade bad. Now I store my plastics in the original bag and put them in a gallon zip lock bags in my backpack. I also have them sorted in the gallon bags like all twister tails in one gallon bag, all shad bodies in a bag, paddletails in a bag etc. not the best system but it does work.

Here is my current setup. What I take depends on what Im fishing for that particular day. There is top water bass, crankbaits, rubber worms and of course my crappie box. I may not have more than two boxes with me on a particular day.

What I have 'works' for me, but Im looking for a better setup. Something that organizes my stuff a little better and makes it easier to pick and choose.

Stop carrying so many variants. Leave in original pouches. Put a few in quart or gallon ziploc bag and go fish. You can ctch fish with 3 simple colors. Trust yourself and your presentation and/or retrieve. Stop worrying if the next color combo is magic. The fish know it’s there. Slow it down. Speed it up. Pause it. Let it fall. Raise it up and pause. You got this. Go catch some.

When in mine i just throw what I think I need in a Tupperware type storage container, don't bring much so not a lot to dig thru.

Snack bags , them little half sandwich looking ones , 4 or 5 bags in a few different colors max , top pocket
Other top pocket a few pinch on floats and some various weight jig heads
Especially in a kayak

I’m going to add that any method used I ad a little bit of worm oil or mineral oil.
