Default Big crappie this morning. 6/10/25

Gary and I had a great morning of crappie fishing as the big girls showed up to play. I got us started off with a 14.5” slab black crappie on a 2” Slab Slayer and in water over 20 feet deep.

TVA was messing with the water flow today. It started off at 33+K fps and in less than an hour, they cut it back to 20K. The fish that were up around 15-20 feet deep then dropped back near the bottom in 30-40 feet. It took a few minutes to figure out what the presentation needed to be to get the fish to bite, but we did and caught some big crappie over 13”. Lights Out and Junebug colors were productive.

Later on a bluff, we added 4 more crappie and 3 spotted bass. Willow flies hatching and the gills are going crazy under overhanging trees. I wish that I had brought an ultralight 2 lb test rod/reel and some tiny jigs. I will in the morning.
