    Default 5-14-25 weekly meetup

We met at one of the boat ramps we usually meet at today .
We were also greeted by high water and high winds .
The lake was almost full pool today , up 3.5’ from last week , most of it in the past three days .
I think the fish were in shock . The wind, 10-25 , was a SW wind tha pt was directly in our face except at the one ramp that was unavailable to fish because screw was doing dock work and had the dock and ramp blocked .
We only fished a little over three hours . I caught nineteen including two small bass , several green sunfish , a couple of decent shellcrackers, and several bluegills in the 4-6” range .
The two shellcrackers came just before we left and because I was fishing from a 3’ elevated bank , I was surprised I could lift them with the 2# Ande Tournament line . I was lucky they did flop as I was lifting . One was long and a little more slim compared to the other , that was kinda rounded .
I took four combos , but only fished with the one , a 5’2” SeaSir Stream UL rod paired with a Soare XR500spg . It’s becoming a favorite if not the favorite of the stable . It’s just so much fun to catch panfish on .
My buddy only caught five as he was dealing with hip issues . That’s another reason we cut it short .
    I had a fun time .

Nice fish and a good trip for tough conditions. I’ll always love the redear, they’re just fun! I’m kicking the idea of putting a three or four turn mark on my rods with thread at ten inches. I think this would give a good reference for the many pictures we take. I’ll keep you posted.

Nice mess of sunnies on a tough windy day. It's been windy and wet here as well. Nice to hear you might have a favorite rod finally with all the testing you do.
