    Default Tying Vise Help

Looking to get a budget tying vise for a couple of flies I use. I tied tons of flies years ago and had a Renzetti Traveler and a Regal. Kinda trying to stay in the low budget range. My primary hook sizes are 2/0 to 10.

I like the looks of the Nirvana V2, but despite good reviews, there are bad reviews from people that have used if for awhile saying none of the adjustment screws hold well.

What do you folks recommend? Anybody got a used vise they want to sell? My gut tells me to quit whining and just get a Renzetti Traveler and be done with it.

Love my Peak vise but if you’re used to using a Renzetti I’d just get another and be happy.

I've been using my Traveler for over 30 years and counting. I got my money's worth and then some.

So the fly tying vise dilemma is resolved. I wanted the Renzetti Traveler, but my wife gave me too tight of a budget. Something had to give. I took a deep breathe, mustered up a little courage, and told her in a stern voice, that if I couldn't get the Traveler, she was cut-off for a week. She said go ahead and get the Traveler!

So today I found myself kinda in the vicinity of a nice fly shop, and then went way out of my way to get there. The 2000 series Renzetti Travelers go for $229, and wouldn't you know it, they were out of them. The guy at the shop knew I had come some distance to get there, so he offered me the Traveler 2300 anodized black that goes for $264 and said he would split the difference with me, bringing the price down to $246. On top of this, I get a 10% discount at this shop. This bought the price down to $221. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I now own a Renzetti Traveler C2203 anodized black!

Awesome. The wife should be happy with a good deal. I think most like “sale” or good deals…

Materials have got very expensive. They’re probably gonna get a lot more expensive as time goes by us for us guys. If we have a stock power stuff to help the other guys out on here would be nice..

Joann's, the last fabric store in the area has closed. I use nylon and polyester threads for tying. Got a few spools when the 40% sale started with not much to choose from. walmart has got out of the fabric sales, can find a bag of mixed color threads. I haven't checked out Hobby Lobby. Not much at our local Sportsman's Warehouse.
