Fun times, nice catches

I dint lose my baby .....
somehow in gods' infinite wisdom I prevailed ....
I somehow managed to land a nice bass in that mess .........
it was dicey , thought there is not a winner here ...
gunna lose a jig and maybe a float and for sure the fish ....
well it worked out the other way for some silly reason
and for sure the bass was not in cooperation mode ....
I went back for a second jungle whipping Friday.
4 minutes from work and a few fish are enticing you know ....
the fish in that ditch off the river are suspended high in the water column ...
probably due to the amounts of forage on the surface is my guess
and or oxygen levels and water clarity maybe ?
nonetheless , short under the float and extra twitchy gets bites .
it was fun this go , really tough to negotiate the terrain though
got myself down to the waters edge and sat on some broken concrete
the bass made me do it ....
landed that fish on MY BELLY ! not kidding ...that concrete is steep ....
ketched me almost the works
never found the red ear I know are in there sometimes , but found some of the rest of the local fish in pretty good numbers. a few hybrid sunfish . a few bluegill . a few longear and them them river sunnies too ....
we call them yellowbelly here , but I think they are actually redbreast sunfish ?
they mostly occur in these parts in rivers , bought never ketch one in a lake .....
good times , more scratches and skeeter bites , but more bigger fish in bigger numbers made it pretty darn fun , brought back that there kid in the ditch trying to ketch fish in me ....

Some real nice fish. I’ve seen a lot of longear sunfish but not with a yellow belly. Mine were bright orange and extra pretty and a severely bad attitude. Awful nice colors on all of em though, glad when they come visit.

They sure are colorful sunnies, really long flaps on those boy fish. Would have liked to have seen your bass battle. Hook them first and then figure out how to land them.
You need a net , but just something else to have to carry through the jungle.
Gettin’ them to the bank is one thing , getitin’ them on the bank is another.
Good job ! Pretty fish

it was semi legendary bro , thought it might be a catfish at first , but there was greenish roll when I set the hook ....
that 7 foot Tica ultralight bent down hard and it ran all over the place , went UP the discharge tunnel pulling drag and thought we was for sure done.
Could here splashing up in the tunnel and then out it came for the real show , was pulling lots of drag and then it came that bat time on the bat channel and it went last ditch ,,,,air time !
I got a short video of some of the air time and the one image is a clip from it , them river bass got it going on for sure ....fun stuff![]()
