Default End of April on The Rez

Well I hang around the the 43 bridge north when I have my bride with me. We were going to stay till tomorrow but decided to head home this morning after it was raining till mid morning. The Rez got really rough yesterday afternoon, the wind was blowing right against the Mouth of the Pearl River current. This stood up the waves while creating a bit of a confused Sea. My new to me Champion 184 handled it very well, much better than my old Blazer did. Great time to upgrade.

Very Dark BGBS did the best to get a thump but I threw back all the fish caught on a jig, they were small Tacos. I can catch all the Tacos we can eat in my backyard I only kept Ketchn Potato Chip crusting sized Crappie. Tommy's is getting shiners delivered 3 days a week right now and some medium sized shiners 2ft under a cork caught these fish. Jigs caught the smaller stuff. Fishing in the fast flowing Pearl river you could see the Crappie come thru feeding on the surface. I would cast a big shiner into the fish when they appeared. Gar were often mixed in feeding with the larger Slabs. Now why I say feeding thru, the wind was so bad I tied up to trees so I could fish, no controlling the boat with the trolling motor. I was not alone a bunch of other Crappie Anglers were up in the river seeking refuge from the terrible wind. I don't know how many I kept but it wasn't over a dozen yesterday.

Fighting the wind is never fun, but it looks like you made the best of it.

It looks like a fun trip! This year's wind has definitely kept me off the water more than in past years, although I've also had a little more time to go year-round, which is why I'm not disappointed too much. If this is the new normal, I may have to invest in a little bigger boat and/or brakes and shallow water anchors.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

Glad the champion did its job. Always out of sorts kinda til you get used to a new ride. Good fish you got too. My wife hasn’t yet recovered from Memorial Day ‘09 when my Bumble Bee got real light in heavy traffic, she said we got air but that’s not my take. Mine would be really scared as she doesn’t do the water, at all. The boat looks real sharp, good colors. My Bee was gray and blue with big flake glitter in the blue. Still kinda partial to the blue I guess.

Good thing we came home. The Condensing Fan went out on the house A/C late yesterday. I didn't catch it till laying down. The compressor was cycling on the overload. I noticed a hum repeating every 40 seconds or so. I think I caught it in time that the compressor will be ok. If we had stayed the night on The Rez last night the entire Condenser would have been cooked.
