Default PB Shellcracker of this year ; So Far :)

Today I got a chance to fish the docks for a little over an hour using my 5’2” SeaSir Stream ULF rod , but today I has a KastKing 1000 Spin Finesse System reel and 2# Ande Tournament line .
I wanted to try the KastKing SFS reel to see if I could get any more distance out of my mi ro jigs . I didn’t see any difference, so I’ll be going back to my Soare 500 reels .
Today I also was trying a size 14 hook, 3mm tungsten bead streamer jig with a rainbow color , that weighs around .3g .
    A tiny lightweight jig .
I’d been fishing over half an hour and had caught five tiny gills in the 3-4” size . When I decided to cast parallel to the dock in the the corner shown in the picture .
I felt a tap , and thought I’d hooked into bass as it dove under the dock between two posts .
I Rand to the area raking up line and tried to keep the line away from the posts . Several times the fish ran up next to the posts . I thought the line was going to part at any second .
I worked myself over the bank and finally tired the fish enough to keep it out from under the dock . I then slowly worked it to the shore and beached it , as I reached down and lipped it . No way could I lift this fish with the 2# line even if the rod would have held . Not a good idea with a solid tip rod . The 2# Ande Tournament line continues to impress me . Even though the line was around the post at least a couple of times, I couldn’t find any abrasion on the line .
I was pleasantly surprised that I had landed my personal best shellcracker for this year , so far .
    A chunky , thick fish .
    Made my day !

Nice one, I wish we had them here.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

It’s rare that I keep any of my catches anymore.
I have thought several times about taking a camp stove and frying pan with me and cooking up a shore lunch .
It’s been years since I did that . Best tasting fish I’ve ever eaten was from the water to the grease .
Easier to go to captain D’s .

That’s a really nice fish and I’m sure you had your hands full! I didn’t get em often but thoroughly enjoyed every one. Knew most of them were crackers before I saw them, that much better.

I like the idea of a shore lunch. I have a couple of heat sources I could take along to make it work. Wouldn’t have to carry much either. Of course, the beer I like to have with a good piece of fried fish might have to stay home. Keep us posted if it ever happens, I’ll do the same.
