LOL, I have a friend that says we sometimes just pester and bug them until they bite. Hey, whatever works I say. I keep a pair of reader glasses in my kayak just for tying on jigs. I need longer arms....lol.
True river fishing for Crappie can truly be very humbling. No matter the gear or the electronics or the years of experience or favorite spots, it still doesn’t make them bite. I call these days a Dynamite Day.
Shorts would bite which at least kept the interest level up enough to make me stay on the water from daylight till dark. It also gave me the opportunity to try out every method and bait known to man kind. Find some new locations or should I say structure and slop patters that hold crappie.
Now let me help those who have forward facing sonar and those who don’t.
I truly think I enjoyed days like these better without FFS. It’s like dealing with a child who want eat their dinner.
Now the good news, increase my knot tying abilities. I think I got faster even though I think I am going to have to go to 80 pound test just to see it. Best bite came from a brown almost grass hopper color.
Good news caught some blue gill couldn’t get your hands around. I think most call them down south titty brim.
So fellows yesterday is the very reason I say Crappie fishing is not for the weak or partially committed fisherman. If you are partially committed stay with brim, bass or something other than Crappie.
Looking forward to this weekend. Either I will catch a bunch or none at all. But I promise I will aggravate the crap out of the crappie once again. Love it!

Yep, as for the readers I guess I could get some to put over my regular glasses. Like yesterday I told my fishing partner it amazes me, we both fish with same brand and color line and the angle to his I can see perfectly but can’t spot mine. I am definitely a line watcher!

Guys Amazon sells polarized wraparound sunglasses with bifocals for about $25. I have a pair in every vehicle so I don't leave home without a pair. Really makes tying knots a breeze that is if your hands are smooth enough the braid doesn't stick to your fingers. I get so frustrated because the braid sticks to my finger tips.

If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.
I too keep bifocals in the boat. I can’t see up close anymore.

What’s the old saying, “Getting old ain’t for sissies”! I feel your pain!
Fingers don’t work well due to taped up when broken or out of place playing football and then three years of throwing a spinning chain. Not to mention I was the redneck that said “hey yall watch this”!
At sixty-five while I was invincible in my younger years or so I thought I was. Never made plans of stuff wearing out like eyes, fingers, hips, shoulders etc.
But I don’t feel any of it while on the hunt for those paper lips. Only when I am done. My brother in law says I look like Festus off the old Westerns when I get out of the boat. Oh well I love fishing. As for the shads I have to wear prescription. But at least my eye doctor likes to fish so he got me some good ones.

I always have pairs of glasses everywhere in house, boat, cars and in my tackle box. Plus do have sunglasses with bifocals.
BTW get many comments about how I always ketch lot o crappie which isn't true at all. I'm fortunate that my two places on/near lakes are close enough that if I hit the docks/banks and they arn't in the mood to dance on my line? I go back and do some maintenance, BS with my guys or take a nap and then go back in few hours. Crappie are definitely not always biting and you just have to figure out the patterns at that time when they want to cooperate. Is why I don't fool with boats much as I have fishing toon at one and bass boat at cabin. If friends show up with boats will go with them.
