    Default Fun day

Got out to the lake at 7 and was on from the start. First 7 casts produced fun gills around 7" and reached 20 after 30 minutes. Mostly colored up males and then it started while reeling in another gill a bass grabs my gill and takes off and I give it a minute or so swallow it before hooking it. Work it back towards me for a couple minutes and it spits the gill but grabs it again and we start round 2. Same thing having it on for a couple minutes and spit it again but comes back and grabs it again for round 3. This time started jerking rod hard and finally rips gill off the hook. Fun ten minutes even though I never saw it, no jumping. Had two more gills grabbed by bass but didn't get those either. Finished with about 50 gills and a couple 8" redear. Name: IMG_6082.jpg

Now that sounds like a total rush to have 3 rounds with the bass. Good job.

    Absolutely a Fun day !
Those green fish are on the prowl right now .
My right shoulder started bothering me last night. I hadn’t done anything except go fish fishing. Guess that bass I hooked up with and those two cats I had on so long must have pulled something.
Rough getting old . LOL !

Looks like it wasn't meant to be in catching the bass but having fun and enjoying it all is what fishing is all about ... thanks for posting

Heading back again today to the scene of the gill stealing day and hopefully change the results and land one. I think the commotion from the earlier gills got their attention and brought them closer and they were snatching those gills about 20-25 foot away. Fishing with tiny jigs on #10 hooks the only way to catch them is them swallowing the gill deep enough so they can't spit it. Caught a couple big bass doing this the last few years but odds of landing them aren't very good. Lot's of fun trying.

Your comment about catching a few and getting everyone excited is right on. I was fishing a nice slot 20 feet off the bank while wading, and after two fish and many casts it was game on. I finally quit when I saw I had to go home. My little stream isn’t prime yet, but close.

I’ll take trips like those anytime. Never get bored on a numbers day. You’ll get another big pickle soon, I got a feeling.

I fished it with my son yesterday. Conditions had changed from sunny and warm to cloudy, breezy and cool. Wished I had brought another shirt because I was shivering after 15 minutes. But fishing was hot and made up for the chill. Everything was biting. Caught several bass, redear and even three channel cats on the duck jigs with a bunch of gills to 8". Had a couple big bass chasing the gills but couldn't get them to commit, nipped at the tails a few times but wouldn't eat them. Probably close to 100 fish day. Son had a big bass take a gill but didn't land it. He caught over 50 easy and would have had more except he was bass fishing throwing big baits for them. Only took a couple redear pics.
