Default my son and his BF came up just to fish for once

my son has really gotten more into fishing the last year or so. actually came up beside deer or turkey season to fish and so glad IT WAS ON! He finally starting doing what he has seen dad do a lot. instead of only hitting a dock or two we were on the bank and I gave him the honey hole that I have found as well. First night he whacked a dozen nice ones in short time they had after driving up. his buddy still struggles as he has done well on docks at times but still doesn't get the bobber boy bit. we were simply throwing out a ways with bobber and about 4 foot of line with a small jig. bringing it back slowly and Wham!

I went scouting for turkey at daylight and did get into a nice bunch of boomers in spot I want to hunt so that was nice. came back around 7 made breakfast for the boys and we headed to lake. same scenario for them while I went off to check a honey hole I have found that no one else still hasn't fished for last 3 years. sure enough I got into them and went over to see my son doing some ketchn as well. friend still struggling with couple.

Had a nice mess in morning, twenty something and then had lunch. I headed back while they took it easy and cleaned morning ketch. I got into them again on my HH for a bit and then balancing on rocks over real shallow water and small opening in weeds caught a couple of real nice ones dressed for the dance. caught another in weeds when I brought it in it got off and was bouncing down on water's edge. when I reached down quickly forgot that I have low blood flow and did a slow motion fall into water, got edges of coat and pants wet and did hit my head on rock. so quit to go back to cabin and change. when I told my son what happened he asked anxiously if I was ok. said more embarrassed than anything so that was good enough he grabbed his bucket and took off when I said they were biting good! so proud at that time as he reported later he got into them and finished his limit and his buddy even caught bunch too. course when I took my hat off and went to buy a sandwich at local store guy asked me why I was bleeding. Oh well. it didn't do much. I was ok.

boys came back filetted fish and then had a big fry. those boys love them some crappie made 30 and I ate three and they polished off the rest. love watching them dive into a plate of FRESH Filets!

Next morning I listened for turkeys, had one boomer right off the road but that's all in 3 spots. then went to another area of lake and caught a few. headed back to where boys would be and sure enough they were all over my HH so I hit the bank area but all weekend back was killing me and sitting in chair most of time, still ketchn tho. they have bought minnows but proud that my son was using jigs w nibbles to great success. I had my limit in couple hours while casting from chair or even sitting on dock trying to ease my back.

Son had his third straight day of getting it done in big way and HAS THE FEVER! can't wait to get back to fishing. I've been trying to have him come down when they were spawning but he always waited too long.

BTW Bymo and his family were at a nearby lake that can be great on occasion because they had really good camping facilities and that's what they like to do. His folks arn't fisherman and grandkids but THEIR LAKE WAS FIRE as well and they whack a lot of fish and had a great time as well just on the fishing dock provided. So I stopped by and had good time with them as well. Others on the banks were having some success as well.

Great time had by all and now my son realizes that he is now more interested in the family bidness now which is ketchn krappie!

Nice crappie for everyone, the way it should be. Crappie starting to hit the banks now, next couple of weeks should be great. Take care of that bump on the head.
